Well, oops, I must be starting all my posts like that 😀 Anyway, after Tehn went all out on patriotism with Simudza Gumbo, I feel it is time we focused on some positivity as far as music and our society is concerned. We as artist have so much power within us, something that we are either ignorant of, or we merely choose to ignore. but i am determined to make most artists this year realize the hidden potential they have in changing our society. Like I said, we all must find that diamond in each and every one of us. We all have a Tehn, however deep it is hidden, let’s go for it. On that note, welcome to Liberia, Monrovia to be specific.
Have you ever spared a minute to think about the disabled members of our society? Come on man, y’all artist be out here boasting of how creative you are. apart from Z-Anto from Tanzania, none of y’all have ever imagined that the deaf, blind, and deaf need music too. If you are creative like you claim, you should have reasoned in that direction. Anyway (again) since you are afraid to be creative, don’t be afraid, an artist from Liberia has done that for you. takun J is the name. Here is some introduction, Takun J was born on May 14 in Monrovia, Liberia, where he survived the country’s 14 year civil war with his single mother and 3 siblings. Even during those hard times, it was clear that Takun J had an entertainer’s spirit. He grew up playing soccer, dancing, and entering talent shows. He performed whenever he had a chance. By the time he graduated from high school, he had fully committed himself to music. In 2005, he released his first single, “We’ll Spay You” followed the next year by “You Meaning Me”.
Enough of the introduction, Takun J has proved a lot of y’all wrong. Don’t just focus on making Africa dance, remember that 90 percent of our society is living on less that 1$ a day. We have more problems that waking up in a new Bugatti. We have a society that is practically starving, a media industry that is more focused of what Michelle said than what the Al Shabaab invasion has on our country (Kenya). Kenya aside, lets shift focus to Liberia and digest some hard truth from Takun J. Thank me latter….
